The bourbon vanilla from the island of Madagascar is black, oily, soft, with a woody perfume, suave and developing strong warm notes of cocoa.

With 64 000 hectares of Malagasy land devoted to the queen of spices, 80 000 growers, 6000 assistants, 33 exporters, a flower pollination by hand flower per flower, eight months of intensive care between picking to obtaining beautiful vanilla pods: the cultivation of vanilla requires hard work which we almost cannot imagine when we hold the precious vanilla pods in our hands...

Vanilla, a demanding orchid!

Several conditions must be met for the vanilla, a tropical plant belonging to the orchid family, to have a strong growth: warm and humid climate and constant temperature. In Madagascar, vanilla plants are usually grown in undergrowth.
